Basic Classroom Supplies to Survive the School Year
Help me give my students basic classroom supplies such as dry erase markers for note taking as well as boxes of facial tissues, paper towels, and hand sanitizer for improved personal hygiene during the winter months.
My students are a rainbow of cultural and socioeconomic diversity in a rich urban environment. They are both artistically and academically motivated in their learning as they attend an arts/performing arts high school in which they have specific majors of study in the arts. They are also college-oriented and choose rigorous preparatory coursework such as College Board-level Advanced Placement classes.
They also enjoy expressing their knowledge and their art through classroom discussions and debates, group work, and hands-on experiments and projects.
My Project
Teaching AP Psychology requires multiple entry points to make the content memorable to students, therefore using colored dry-erase markers allows me to write notes and draw diagrams on the board that stimulate students' sensory experience to make their memory of the material stronger.
Student hygiene will also be an area of focus of this project, especially as we enter the cold and flu season.
Access to boxes of tissues, hand sanitizer, and paper towels will help keep students healthy and therefore more focused on their studies.
Lastly, the inflatable Bozo doll will be our class mascot as we will soon study the topic of Learning and how Albert Bandura's "Bobo" Doll Experiment has given psychologists insight into childhood observational learning.
