As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to have them appreciate themselves and each other. My students have been dismissed as not being able to learn by others, and it's crucial to let them know that they are capable of learning and succeeding.
My 500+ students need the 45 minutes a week they get in art to express themselves and find some joy at school.
Art conference are hard to come by, and the NAEA explains why I need to go better than I can: We understand that educators need to continuously develop new skills and instructional approaches to serve ever diverse populations of students Pre-K through University. That is why we are pleased to announce the gathering of thousands of art educators for the 2020 NAEA National Convention taking place in Minneapolis, Minnesota, March 26-28.
Diverse professional learning opportunities at the 2020 NAEA National Convention will be provided more than 1,000 sessions that showcase the latest in research, teaching, and assessment, as well as interactive learning through hands-on workshops and museum and art studio tours.
This outstanding event provides a comprehensive opportunity for all educators who are engaged in
the arts to experience exemplary examples of best practices and methodologies supported by research. A vibrant, innovative community of more than 5,000 professionals representing art
specialists and teachers of the visual arts, school administrators, university professors, researchers, and museum educators will participate—all with the common goal of supporting student learning through art education. And NAEA offers a low registration fee of $185 for members before February 20, 2020.
The program provides 100% education content that can be applied immediately to help advance your school-wide goals.
