We had ten parent volunteers and several community members join us as we planted four new garden beds inside the PreK playground area. My students were delighted to planted each flower and water the seeds every day.\r\nThere were in awe as they watched the flowers open in the sunlight. It added so much beauty to their playground.\r\nWe sang the Growing Song by Hap Palmer everyday and learned to nurture all living things. My students understand the Life Cycle of a Seed and can tell you what a seed needs to grow.\r\nIt truly warms my heart to watch them speak of their experiences with joy, excitement and anticipation of future flowers to grow. Your donation has made an incredible difference in our classroom and brought so much joy and excitement to our students.\r\n\r\nThe listening center and headphones have been especially impactful. Many of our students are now able to listen to stories at their own pace, follow along with the text, and build their fluency and comprehension in a way that feels fun and engaging. This kind of individualized learning support is something we couldn't have offered without your help.\r\n\r\nTechnology like this helps bridge gaps for students who are still developing reading skills or who need quiet, focused time to learn. One student who often struggles with staying on task during whole-group lessons now looks forward to listening time every day. He has even started choosing books to listen to during free time which has never really happened before.\r\n\r\nThe light table has also sparked curiosity and creativity. Students use it for everything from sorting shapes and letters to creating colorful art with translucent materials like magnitiles. It's more than just a fun tool—it encourages exploration, collaboration, and hands-on learning that keeps students engaged.\r\n\r\nIt's hard to pick just one favorite item—our crayons, books, and even the soft pillow covers have added to the joy and comfort of our classroom. But the technology pieces have truly transformed how our students interact with learning. They're excited, confident, and more independent learners because of your kindness.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our classroom and supporting our students in such a meaningful way.\r\n\r\nHeston Elementary's Kindergarten class is grateful!","fullyFundedDate":1736172972687,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-knowledge-a-library-remodel-p/8760321/","projectTitle":"Unlocking Knowledge: A Library Remodel Project","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chism","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9635681"},{"teacherId":9368593,"projectId":8301800,"letterContent":"When my students first saw the brand-new colored pencil sets and supplies, their eyes lit up! Many of them rushed over to test the wide variety of colors, immediately layering and blending to see how the pencils worked. A few even commented that they felt like \"real artists\" now that they had so many professional-quality colors to choose from.\r\n\r\nWe've already begun using the pencils in a landscape drawing project where students are learning how to show mood with color. Having such a large variety of hues has allowed them to experiment with blending warm and cool tones in ways they never could before with our smaller class sets. The excitement around the new supplies has truly raised the level of creativity in the room.\r\n\r\nThe pencils, pens, and Dr. Seuss themed writing tools have also been wonderful for journaling and sketchbook work. Students are writing artist reflections and sketching out ideas with more focus and pride, simply because they have access to fresh, high-quality materials. Something as simple as having a pencil that works every time has made a big difference for their confidence and productivity.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to dive into an art journaling unit where students will use these colored pencils for layering, shading, and mixed-media projects. The supplies you provided will continue to support daily drawing, note-taking, and creative expression.
