This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Athletics is an integral part to student identity and school culture. Our athletes are dedicated both to their sport and to their classwork. Due to a limited number of lockers and a full building of over 1,000 students, our athletes often carry their practice equipment with them from class to class.

Many students currently rely on using grocery sacks to carry belongings that easily rip, exposing their valuables to the elements and increasing the risk of damage; however, this project will provide each student-athlete with a durable drawstring backpack and a luggage tag to safely and securely carry their belongings.

This solution will help students to get through the school day and to practice in a much more secure way. Students won't have to worry about losing a shoe or the fear of someone mistakenly throwing away their athletic equipment. In addition, I have asked for clean bags that students can use to carry muddy or wet shoes or clothes home without damaging their backpacks or other equipment.

Thank you in advance for leveling the playing field for the amazing student-athletes at my school! Whether they play soccer, basketball, volleyball, or run track, having a bag to securely transport their equipment in will help them thrive.
