Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kindergarten classroom is filled with bright and eager newcomer students who are just beginning their educational journey in the United States. Many of these students come from diverse backgrounds and face the challenges of adjusting to a new culture, language, and school environment. To support their success, I am seeking backpacks for each of my newcomer students to help them stay organized, feel prepared, and carry the tools they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom. These backpacks will provide my students with a secure place to store and transport their school materials, such as books, folders, and personal items. Having a dedicated backpack will not only help them keep their belongings organized but also promote responsibility and independence. For many of my students, this may be their first experience with having their own school supplies, and a backpack can make a world of difference in how they approach their daily learning.

With these backpacks, my students can transition seamlessly between home and school, ensuring they always have access to their learning materials.

This simple yet essential item will help reduce the stress and anxiety that can come with being a newcomer, allowing my students to focus more on their learning and less on logistical challenges. The primary goal of this project is to provide each of my newcomer students with a high-quality backpack that they can use throughout the school year. By equipping them with a backpack, I aim to enhance their organizational skills and responsibility, ensure they have a secure place to store their learning materials both at school and at home, support their adjustment to the school environment by reducing logistical challenges, and foster a sense of ownership and pride in their educational journey.
