Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is made up of curious, thoughtful and hardworking students. We begin every day by declaring our promises to each other: to be kind and fair to all, always try our hardest, and to appreciate what we have.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and have varying learning styles and abilities.
Despite the many challenges that they may face, these third graders come to school each and every day ready to persevere and embrace all opportunities to learn something new.
My Project
Last year, I submitted a project for Take Home Book Bags. The goal was for students to have access to appropriate books at home by borrowing their favorite titles and genres from my classroom library. This was a huge success, and the bags lasted us an entire school year! Now, I am asking for a new of set of Take Home Book Bags so next year's class can experience the same love for reading at home.
Additionally, we are in need of a classroom rug to create an additional workspace and meeting place for students.
This rug will provide students with a place to hold our Morning Meeting, engage in whole group lessons, or listen to a mentor text read aloud.
We also are in need of the little things: tissues for runny noses, hand sanitizer to ensure clean hands, and dry erase markers for math games and instruction.
