Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a self-contained 4th-grade class at a public school, Preschool through 6th grade, of approximately 600 students. Many of the children have been in attendance at the school since they were toddlers. Students view the school as their second home.

I have the most beautiful, interesting, and talented children in my classroom.

They come to school every day ready to learn and to take on challenges. My students' interests include engaging in hands-on activities that are thought-provoking and fun. They enjoy everything technology-related and "outside of the box" projects. They always strive to do well at the school and community they've grown up in.

My Project

It is without a doubt that reading is an important skill to have. Not only is it being able to read, but actually understanding what they are reading. For this reason, I am always looking for engaging books for my students.

Students who enjoy what they read are more likely to be lifelong readers.

I want to provide engaging books that show my students that books can be fun to read. Not only are books for learning purposes, but can be used for enjoyment. In particular, my students enjoy nonfiction and graphic books. The books chosen reflect this.
