A.V.I.D. Instruction and Team Building

Help me give my students some tools, motivation and some fun teamwork games for my 10th grade A.V.I.D. elective students. present.

My Project

I teach Intermediate Algebra to 9th graders along with a 10th grade A.V.I.D. elective class. A.V.I.D. stands for advancement via individual determination and the focus of the class is on teaching students communication/ collaboration skills and critical thinking to get them ready for post secondary.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays we have group tutorials that simulate college study groups.

The students present their tutorial question on a white board to their group. The magnetic coordinate grid will be so helpful for the students to graph problems during tutorials. I also registered for a standing easel white board that holds chart paper. That will be helpful as they present tutorial questions to their group.

On Fridays we check their organization and complete some fun team building activities. This could be a game like Scattergories or an "escape room" type critical thinking activity. I would love to find some additional resources on Teachers Pay Teachers with the $100 gift card.
