Because of your contribution, my students now have access to items that will support hands-on learning in my four sections of Earth and Space Science this school year.\r\n\r\nHaving these tools transforms our classroom from a place where students just read about science to a space where they actually do science. We're just getting the school year underway, but here's how we're looking forward to using these supplies:\r\n\r\nExploring Space & Earth Science: The Earth-Moon-Sun model will give my students a tangible, 3D way to visualize complex concepts like lunar phases, eclipses, and seasonal shifts during our study of the solar system.\r\n\r\nHands-On Space Physics & Light Study: The diffraction glasses allow for seeing light split into vibrant spectral colors firsthand and will bring our lessons on stellar composition and the Doppler effect to life during our exploration of the universe.\r\n\r\nEnvironmental Science & Real-World Impact: The water quality test kit will allow myself and the other teachers to deepen our interactive curriculum connecting the water cycle directly to human impacts. \r\n\r\nPrecise Measurement & Problem Solving: With our new graduated cylinders and beakers, students are making density calculations using actual laboratory equipment. Coupled with the new calculators, they can transition seamlessly from collecting data about different kinds of rock to analyzing it, building critical STEM skills in the context of studying the earth's crust and how materials cycle through it.\r\n\r\nCollaboration & Visual Learning: The poster paper and dry erase markers will energize our daily group work. Students will use the markers for quick whiteboard problem-solving and brainstorming, while the poster paper allows them to design visual models, map out lab results, and compose visual reports of their findings to the class.\r\n\r\nYour support has not only provided essential classroom materials, but it has also shown my students that there is a community outside our school walls who believe in their potential. You have supported screen-free curiosity and learning as an exciting, hands-on adventure.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our future scientists and critical thinkers!","fullyFundedDate":1773077790792,"projectUrl":"project/digging-in-to-earth-and-space-science/9942075/","projectTitle":"Digging in to Earth and Space Science","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Norberg","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4676967_272x272.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1503279883536","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/dnorberg"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_74015","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2081,"numTeachers":93,"percentFrplEligible":26,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":71,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"22.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.1,"schoolId":74015,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Centennial High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Centennial High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/centennial-independent-school-district-12/centennial-senior-high-school/74015"}
