Help me give my students support while learning at home. With these materials, like a portable document camera and whiteboard, I will be able to better serve my students while I teach remotely.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at one of the most amazing schools in our district. Our teachers and staff are committed to our students' success. Our families and community support every student in our building. My student population consists of over 80% free and reduced-price lunch. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds; culturally, economically, and linguistically. School is a place of routine, safety, and consistency.
Without being in school right now, our students are struggling.
We've been out of school for 6 weeks. Only 20% of our community has access to computers and internet. This has been the biggest challenge. Our students are just now getting laptops and hotspots donated. As they gain access to online learning, I need to jump in and start providing lessons. I need materials to do this!
My Project
Our school is out for the remainder of the academic school year. I have been doing my best while I am teaching at home, however, it's been challenging. Having materials like a document camera and a whiteboard will enhance my teaching. I will use the chart paper to model and demonstrate how to accomplish skills and concepts for my students.
Being at home with these crucial teaching materials will support my students' learning!
I look forward to using online technology in conjunction with these teaching supports while I teach remotely from home.
