I teach in a PreK - 5th grade school. We have over 74% free lunch and a very culturally diverse population. My students are passionate about learning. They love to read, laugh, and grow their brains. They are extremely caring for each other and themselves. We made a charter/class agreement this year. Here is how they want the year to look: We the students in room 24, would like to feel: safe, peaceful, lucky, marvelous, confident, positive, helpful, and grateful. In order to have these feelings, we will: follow the Big 4, not bully, come to school prepared, enjoy what we do peacefully, put others first, and feel good about ourselves. We will handle conflict by: taking a stand against bullying, asking the person to stop or ignore, checking if anyone is hurt, sharing space, apologizing, and calming down when angry. These are incredibly spacial kids and deserve the best learning environment.
