This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in an impoverished area. Students that come to me for speech/language therapy all have different unique needs, preferences and interests. Throughout the years, I have found that student motivation is one of the most helpful tools that an SLP can use in therapy. A student is brought into the therapy room to work on skills and techniques that are a challenge to them. If the student is not motivated, the task may seem too overwhelming. Motivation truly gives a student the ambition and courage to tackle a new skill that might seem overwhelming to them. I have found that using fun educational resources to work on what may be an extremely difficult task to a student, helps make tremendous progress on that student's individual goal(s).

In speech, we are able to use what may seem like "toys" or "games" to students, as learning tools and ways to make tremendous progress in each student's unique area(s) of need in order to keep each student motivated, no matter how difficult the task may seem to them.

My Project

Given the large amount of students I see throughout each week as an SLP, it is crucial for me to have access to a variety of materials and lessons in order to match the needs of each student. Teachers Pay Teachers has been my go-to for finding materials that meet each student's current level of performance in therapy.

The materials we use from Teachers Pay Teachers in our speech and language sessions are not only educational , but they support teachers and service providers just like me!

I love using these materials because they are cultivated by teachers to meet the various needs of students in districts all around the world.
