Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title One school in an economically impacted area of Salt Lake City. These students have never had visual arts in their school and not being in the classroom with limited resources at home has had a negative impact on their learning especially in the visual arts.

My Project

Having an arts education in the school has greatly helped these kids socially, emotionally and academically after a year of online school, being at home and being economically impacted by COVID-19. Our students have never had visual arts education so they have very little in the way of supplies. Their teacher has scrapped together the basics but for 350 kids they are gone. Having quality supplies builds self esteem and produces great work for them to be proud of to display for their family and community for the end of year art show.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
