My students need to learn how to write and speak about art. One way they will learn to do this is by studying master artists' work and practices as well as current and past cultural practices by reading Scholastic Art.
As a teacher in a large and expanding school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to enrich my students' learning experiences by providing responsible informational resources within the classroom.
My students like to express themselves, have a desire to be heard, and seek to be challenged.
They are excited to explore the world of art and culture to expand their capacity for critical thinking. They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of providing each other with well informed feedback.
My Project
I am requesting a class set subscription to Scholastic Art Magazine. I want to to enrich my students' literacy skills in art class. Reading Scholastic Art Magazine is a great way for students to encounter new and familiar language. My students will have an opportunity to voice their own thoughts and opinions about articles we read and artist they study.
My students need to have many opportunities to read about the world around them from responsible sources.
By reading about worldwide arts and culture, they will learn how to communicate more effectively with each other and their outside community. By reading Scholastic Art Magazine, my students will be able to apply familiar and new vocabulary not only in their writings about art, but also when they provide feedback to one another.
