Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Groundhog Day? Veterans Day? What are those? Please help me to bring a greater sense of clarity to my 1st graders about how and why we celebrate the holidays we do with these 34 books about the holidays. I teach at a school that is very low income, and my class is predominately English language learners. Books, like the "Rookie Reader" series, provide access to academic vocabulary about American holidays that otherwise they would not be exposed to. Every holiday I rush to the library and check out books on holidays that are often dated and, not to mention, tattered. Imagine if I had a set of my OWN books to teach with. Not only would I be saving time, but I would be able to share them with my grade level and use them for years to come! Please help to make this 1st grade teacher's dream a reality!
