Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are inquisitive and loving children. They come from less than ideal home environments. Our school is a Title One school that consists of students living below the poverty line. We are a safe place for them to share their day. They need exposure to a variety of topics not available to them in their home environment. My class consists of twenty, preschool students with a variety of special needs. They need exposure to learning activities prior to starting kindergarten.

My Project

Our class will explore the topic of emotions in this time of social isolation. A toll has been imposed on all of us and our little ones need to learn how to emotionally deal with the times we are in. We will use the books to learn about our different emotions. We will use the emotion people, stones and stuff animal to explore the subject. The nursery rhymes will be used to sing soothing songs to regulate our emotions and calm ourselves in a positive manner. We will learn a variety of calming stategies using the materials.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
