My students were excited to use the new materials. The magnetic ten frame answer boards are great tools to use when students require additional assistance to develop their number sense and build foundational skills in mathematics. \r\n\r\nThe ten frames allowed students to build numbers utilizing the two color counters as they work on problem solving with addition and subtraction equations within 10 or 20. Students were able to figure out the number of counters needed and to decompose numbers. Students were able to show their work by writing the equations as well. The write and wipe boards have 3 ten frames and room to write equations. We counted the birds that came down to eat and looked at the colors in their feathers. We saw the squirrels eat the corn and seeds in their feeder. The insects were all over the garden and we got to see such a great variety. The kids love feeding the critters every other day. I have noticed a massive difference in their writing and drawings. Now, they can draw pictures on the same page to connect their pictures to their writing.
