This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard-working, dedicated, hopeful, and ready to learn. Their backgrounds are very diverse and multicultural. Distance learning has made a tremendous negative impact on these students and their families. In the past, our school has been one of the highest achieving urban schools in California. 83% of these students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. I am new to this school and badly need to build my classroom library to match the enthusiasm of my students. The school library is great, but access is sometimes limited because of Covid protocols.

My Project

This project is helping build my classroom library. With access to great books, students can reach their potential. My students have spent too much time in front of a screen and need physical books. Real books will help students concentrate and feel more connected to the literature they’re reading. My classroom library badly needs updating and relevance. Improved reading comprehension will carry over into other subjects and enable students to reach their full potential. The students will be so so excited with a new fresh update to the library. Please help these students foster a love of reading.
