The students now feel that they each have a special place where they belong. When it's time to gather, they know exactly where to go and how to sit, whether it's mermaid style, legs out, or crisscross. Because of this, they don't feel lost or unsure anymore. We call it our \"magic carpet,\" and it truly brings a sense of calm and focus to our classroom. This magic carpet helps set the tone for listening, learning, and being part of our classroom community.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the carpet, their excitement was immediate and contagious. They had been looking forward to getting a \"magic carpet,\" and seeing it in our classroom made that idea come to life. They understood right away that this carpet was something special that would help them learn and grow together. It was a joyful moment watching them take ownership of their new learning space.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue using the magic carpet as a foundation for our daily lessons, especially during whole-group instruction, read alouds, and class discussions. The next steps for our students include building stronger listening skills, participating more confidently in group conversations, and practicing routines that help them stay engaged. Thanks to your generosity, our students now have a structured, welcoming space that supports both their learning and their sense of belonging.","fullyFundedDate":1769178087604,"projectUrl":"project/carpet-time-rug/9969030/","projectTitle":"Carpet Time Rug!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gregg","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10110169_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1766261319227","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10110169"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36226","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":357,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":71,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":87,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"19.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.2,"schoolId":36226,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Silver Wing Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Silver Wing Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/chula-vista-elementary-school-district/silver-wing-elementary-school/36226"}
