My students need books so that they can discover the fun and magic that reading brings.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been teaching for over 15 years, and I love my job. Our students have big dreams, and all of them are going to college. I truly believe that they will reach their goals.
I teach at an elementary school in San Bernardino.
28% of our students are English language learners, and over 98% of our students are socioeconomically challenged. Our children are eager, hardworking students. They love to learn!
Our elementary school is a beautiful school because of our students, wonderful families, dedicated teachers and caring staff.
My Project
Our school library needs lots of help! We only have a few books. These books are very old. The selection is very little and out of date! Can you believe that we don't even have Junie B. Jones?
Our kids want to read.
They like reading; however, we don't have very many books for our children to choose from. I'm afraid that our kids will change their minds about reading very soon because our library lacks books! Many of them take a very, very long time to find a book.
All children should have access to good books such as the requested I Can Read books and Pete the Cat. "Reading changes everything."
