Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Each year I am blessed with around 18 lovable, energetic and curious kindergarten students! I have mostly African American students and a few Hispanic students. Some of my students have challenges to overcome, but they all seem to get along great with one another!

They are amazing five year olds with kind hearts, always willing to help a friend in need or give a hug to help a friend during a difficult time!

It is inspiring to watch them each day. They are so caring and thoughtful! They treat each other like they are family. They are also enthusiastic about learning, and are very sociable.

My Project

I am trying to bring more technology to my classroom. We use technology every day to learn new skills, reinforce skills taught and research topics of interest. My students are very engaged when I use technology.

Most of my students do not have access to technology at home.

Therefore, it is very important that they have opportunities to use technology at school. However, I only have three student computers and two iPads in my classroom. Since I usually have 18 students , most of them only get to use technology twice a week. I would like to increase my students use of technology by providing them with two more iPads. They will use the iPads to develop reading and math skills, as well as practice skills taught during whole group instruction.
