My Students

My students come from a variety of different economic and ethnic backgrounds. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in New York. Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Arabic. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics. Our school is home to general, special, and gifted education programs. We have students that range from one end of the spectrum to another. We have many different programs offered in our school that range from studio art, ballet, hip hop, drama, and chess to name a few. Our school's instructional focus zones in on reaching every learner with a differentiated approach where we tell the students to dream big, inspire others, to achieve their goals.

My classroom is very project-based, and students lead their own learning with guidance and examples.

My Project

Distance learning has not only become necessary, but a requirement for students to receive the education that they need during this unthinkable time in history. With distance learning beginning in March, I have been working with my personal WiFi and computer to engage my students in lessons that would still keep their attention while at home. We persevered nonetheless, as I recorded video coding lessons, added special effects, and uploaded them for students to watch and enjoy.

With about 95% network and 5% phone call interaction with students, the need for a powerful, versatile, reliable laptop is essential especially during the current teaching restrictions.

With this new laptop, I will have the opportunity to incorporate content-based lessons and provide visual media to engage students in learning. The MacBook Pro will give me the ability to design interactive lessons more efficiently and use newly created websites and updated programs in lightning speed. Using the MacBook Pro will also facilitate interactive resources that make learning fun and exciting for my students, while meeting the students’ needs regarding differentiated instruction.
