Help me give my students 2 iPads to improve their options when working on projects ie. photography/editing, art & design, marketing/Logo design, and app access, along with headphones to replace the broken/missing ones in the classroom set.
My students are wonderful, driven middle schoolers. They are excited to learn about new concepts and apply those concepts through project-based learning. My students love to try out new things at home and are so excited to share their experiences with me and anyone who will listen.
There have been so many times that they have returned to school to tell me that they were able to figure out how to sew using a parent's machine at home, to show me how they edited some new photos or discovered a feature of presentation software they could now use.
Covid has made classes difficult, as we are currently conducting classes online and have done this on and off for the past 2 years.
They really are the greatest students to have in class. Their desire to learn new things gives me the motivation to find exciting lessons for them to try out. They are so resilient and willing to learn.
My Project
Access to technology has always been essential to a student's learning. That has never been more evident than in the last two years of these students' lives. Trying to keep up with the ever-advancing world of technology is difficult on its own. Combine that advancement with remote learning and hybrid classes - the difficulty increases. Mix in quarantines, illness, isolation, depression, and loneliness; it's no wonder that students are struggling to stay engaged when so many are feeling a lack of support and safety.
Donating to this project will help provide more resources and opportunities for students to engage with each other and learn marketable skills for their future.
Providing access to software applications that are commonly used, cameras for videos and photography, and the ability to turn these creations into art or information are invaluable skills needed to succeed in not only education but life. My students will love having access to these Ipads to improve their projects and learn what this valuable technology is capable of doing for them if they can learn how to use it. Through several different project-based learning activities (marketing, photo editing, architecture) and many different classes (College and Career Awareness, Digital Literacy, Foods, Keyboarding) these items will be used to improve student learning, engagement, and success.
