Help me give my students engaging hands-on alphabet fun for holiday presents! These Alpha-Bots will help them to strengthen alphabet recognition and fine motor development while having so much FUN!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The 13 students in my classroom are ages 3-5, and a mix of typically developing children, and those with special rights. Our school is located in a diverse Boston neighborhood, with families speaking languages from English to Arabic to Russian to Spanish to Thai to Portuguese to Chinese and more!
We work hard and we play hard!
We use a play-based curriculum to make sure our students are learning pre-reading and writing, but in a way that makes sense to them.
My Project
Pre-K students learn best through play with concrete materials, exploring math and literacy concepts with objects they can physically manipulate. My classroom is rich with invitations for my students to build knowledge without even realizing it.
However, distance learning has made it more difficult to provide these hands-on experiences at home.
For holiday presents, I would like to send alphabet toys to each of my students. Alpha-Bots will encourage low risk conversations around literacy with their caretakers and provide another option for strengthening their literacy knowledge through play. Building letters and transforming them into robots is incredibly engaging and incredibly fun and I know my students will love it!
