My students need tenor and concert sized ukuleles to fit their growing bodies. We will have enough ukuleles so that the 75 fourth graders can all play at the same time! It will sound amazing!
Our fourth grade class is a great group of learners. They are eager to work together and support each other as they grow and find out about all kinds of new information. They are excited each day to walk through the door and see what is happening today. They are kind to each other, and help to make sure that they all understand concepts presented.
Most of the students have been here since kindergarten, and we have a feeling of family in our classroom.
We support each other, and have a growth mindset structure in our school. We might not be able to do something - yet! - but we will get there by doing our best, and not giving up.
My Project
Two years ago I wrote project proposals to get ukuleles in the classroom for my students. Thanks to generous donors, the projects were funded and my students were able to use ukuleles to expand their musical education.
Our music teacher has embraced the ukulele learning, and has featured the students playing in assemblies.
The fourth graders from two years ago are now sixth graders, and have been able to continue learning more chords and strumming patterns. They will be able to use the concert and tenor sized ukuleles to fit their bigger hands. Our current fourth graders will be able to use the soprano sized ukuleles to begin their musical journey.
