Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarteners are happy, thoughtful, and curious. Many of my little ones are ready to jump right in and take chances. Some take a slower approach and appreciate a helping hand. They all love to sing and dance. They enjoy storytime, art, and science.

My kinders are kind and helpful.

Teaching and learning with masks has been quite a challenge. As you can imagine, masks are not conducive to learning phonemic awareness. Developing communication and socialization skills has also been a challenge. I am grateful that my students are cheerful and continue to persevere through the difficulties that come with teaching during COVID.

My Project

One of our class rules is to show kindness and good manners, and they do a very good job with this rule, but they are 5 and 6 years old, so they are still learning to be gentle. Many of their activities and materials are teacher-made from colored card stock. The materials can look a little too loved by the end of the year and need to be thrown out and remade.

Kindergarten is very hands-on!

I would like to laminate the student materials so that they will last longer and stand up to years of use. I would also like to make extra sets of some activities for students to be able to practice at home. The storage trays would help to keep the colorful card stock and lamination pouches organized.
