Most kindergarten classrooms are designed with student cubbies, low counters, and lots of storage. My school has 4 kindergarten classes, but only 3 actual kindergarten classrooms. I teach in a first-grade classroom without the kindergarten amenities. Due to Covid, I have had to remove any nonessential furniture to give the kids more space. That means bookcases and work tables had to go. Currently, my students keep their daily supplies in large pouches that sit in the middle of their tables. I would like to be able to remove some of the clutter and give them more space to work.
I was so excited to find storage that won't take up any extra space and remove the clutter from their work space.
The chair storage will help my students learn to be organized and independent. Kindergarten is the best time to establish routines and habits to help students become responsible for their own learning. My students are 5 years old and they do a pretty good job of staying on task and engaged. When there are a lot of things in view and within reach, it can be a distraction for some. They are also learning fine and gross motor control, so room to move is important.
