My Project

Ears to hear and ears to learn. In my classroom, the use of Chromebooks is an integral part of my students education. The need and necessity for earphones to allow uninterrupted learning is a vital part of their education. My students need every advantage that I can supply in their quest to grow academically.

My third grade students are a beautiful bunch of diverse students, with 9 out of 19 being emergent bilingual learners.

In my class of 19 students I have 9 that are refugees from Afghanistan. Not only are my students learning a second language, and attempting to catch up to their peers, but the class as a whole are coming in labeled as economically disadvantaged. Many show up with no supplies at the beginning of the new school year and throughout. Many receive services for food and clothing through our campus family advocate. Our school and district go above and beyond to welcome and supply what our students and families need for day to day living, but sometimes we still need a helping hand to help them.

My students use learning programs on their Chromebooks that advance their skills in reading, math and language. But oftentimes with all students using their Chromebooks at the same time it becomes difficult for students to focus on their individualized plan and app. This is why I am seeking help in supplying our classroom with headphones for each student. Individual headphones would be a game changer in the noise level in our class and allow students to fully focus on growing their minds. I hope we are considered and accepted to receive the donation of headphones. I know that my students would be so surprised and excited and I would be so grateful.
