Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This novel is a beautiful story of family, food, and friendship. It explores what it means to fit in for a sixth-grade student.

At our elementary school, our motto is 'All Are Welcome'.

We celebrate diverse learners from many cultures and walks of life. Our 4th grade accelerated curriculum newly added A Place at the Table by Saadia Faruqi and Laura Shovan as a tool to teach about culture and change in our next unit. The themes of Pakistani Americans and Jewish Americans learning to cook South Asian cuisine are directly relatable to our students.

This novel will help many of our students see themselves and their families in our studies.
