Age Appropriate Library Furniture to Lounge In

My Project

Imagine walking into an elementary library, walking past several round tables with hard back chairs to get to the book shelves to begin searching for a book. In order to get around the tables, you have to push in chairs or walk around the edge of the library wall. After finding the book you would like, you check out the book and then find a place to sit to read for the remainder of the library time. The choices for seating are the hard back chairs or the floor or well, that's it.

We need to harness the love of reading in our students at a young age and what better way to do that then to give them age appropriate seating in the elementary library.

When we are seated in a comfortable place to read, we are more engaged with our reading, paying attention to what we are reading. Kids will be thinking about what they are reading and be ready to dive back into that book after leaving the library. Studies show that the most important predictor of academic success is the amount of time children spend reading books. Let's get our students reading by giving them a comfortable place to read!
