Thanks to your generosity, my counseling library is now fully stocked with essential books specifically focused on supporting students with ADHD and managing big feelings.\r\n\r\nThis collection has become a vital, frequently-used component of my program, serving as much more than just a set of reading materials.\r\n\r\nKey Impacts of Your Gift:\r\nEnriched Classroom Lessons: The books have been seamlessly integrated into my classroom counseling lessons. By utilizing these engaging and relatable stories, students are learning key vocabulary and practical strategies for emotional regulation, self-awareness, and focus.\r\n\r\nEffective Small Group Support: The new titles have formed the backbone of my targeted small groups this year. For students struggling with attention-deficit challenges and intense emotions, these resources provide a safe, structured way to explore their experiences and develop coping mechanisms that truly work.\r\n\r\nIncreased Student Understanding and Empathy: Students are connecting with the characters and realizing they are not alone in their experiences. This fosters a powerful sense of community and reduces the stigma often associated with having a diagnosis or big feelings.\r\n\r\nEmpowering Practical Skills: For example, books teaching concrete breathing exercises or visualization techniques are immediately put into practice, giving students tangible tools they can use in the classroom, at home, and on the playground.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has directly enhanced the emotional and academic lives of my students, giving them the literacy and emotional skills they need to thrive. They are able to use their fine motor skills to take apart and put together the dinosaurs with screws. The kids are learning about the farm with the farm air fort materials. The puzzles are great for problem solving and working together to complete a task. There are also fruits and vegetables the kids can plant and grow with the play trowel, shovel, gloves and bucket. A farmer's job is never done!\r\n These air forts have brought a lot of new activities into the classroom. As you can see from the photos, the kids have had them out and are putting them to good use. The most amazing item is the body sock. The kids wanted to try wearing it. Some loved the feeling and didn't want to take it off. The material is very stretchy so kids can use it while they are working. One student used it while playing a game and was more calm than usual, displaying a benefit of using the body sock. Some of the kids who tried it out just wanted to roll all over the floor. One figured out how to stay in a space to move during a rug activity without disturbing others. He was able to wiggle and move but was still attentive and participating. The body sock has proven its benefits in my classroom.\r\n We were able to get a few other sensory items. The glitter boards were great because of the movement the kids can create. It can be held as a controller and squeezed using alternating hands. Kids squeeze the ends and it moves the glitter and liquid back and forth, promoting fine motor movement and growth as well as hand-eye coordination, and eye tracking. We were able to get Everlasting pencils, markers, and cross-stitch screens to enhance our writing time. The kids LOVE their new markers. It is amazing how this addition has drawn more students to the writing center on their own time. They love to draw and color with the markers and always ask if they can use them when we begin a class writing activity. Our rule is if there is a back to the paper, we cannot use markers because they bleed through. If there is no back to the paper, we can use them. Markers just make everything more vibrant and fun. What a way to draw in kids to the writing center.\r\n The Everlasting pencils are pencils that do not need to be sharpened. They stay sharpened with the special lead inside. The kids earn these when they are really attentive and working effectively during weekly handwriting activities. They get the choice of an Everlasting pencil, a gel pen, or a novelty eraser. The Everlasting pencils are pencils so they can use them anytime. \r\n I am so thankful for your contribution! These items may seem small but they make a huge impact when having 5 year olds write who do not want to write. I have had a surge of writing participants that really want to write. The kids were so thankful for the option to have a little snack when they get to school if needed.\r\n Before I was able to provide breakfast snacks as an option thanks to donors like you, the kids only had the option to eat the school breakfast. Many parents flag their child's account for no breakfast because of the extra cost. Kids would begin to complain that they were hungry or their stomach felt upset about an hour after coming to school. It is so hard to focus on activities and learning when your stomach hurts or is grumbling from hunger. It was difficult to keep their attention.\r\n Now that we have breakfast snack options thanks to you, kids who need a little something to tide them over until lunch are able to pick up a snack to eat during morning work time.
