Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Like many other schools, our students need afterschool programs. These programs provide them with alternatives to drugs, gangs, and other destructive options that they have in their community. They need proper equipment to provide them with a proper afterschool program.

Our school provides a safe learning environment for students in a low income community.

They are excellent students who try hard in their academics and want their school to grow to reach others. My students always ask me when we will begin a specific type of sport team. The answer is always the same. When we get the funding for it. Their desire is there, we just need the resources to meet their needs.

My Project

This will be the second year that we will try to begin a volleyball program. Last year we started, however most students did not last because they had to wait so long to practice since they had to wait for their equipment. These additional volleyballs will allow us to do more drills together instead of having to wait. The soccer team has had a good two year program. They need better soccer goals because the nets that we have are destroyed and the goals are way too small for junior high students. Plus the framing is rusted and will not last much longer. The players get frustrated when they shoot a goal and we cannot tell if it went in or not because the net has two many holes.

These afterschool programs are necessary and, in my opinion, mandatory.

Students need an alternative to the negative things that are available outside in the community. These programs will keep them safe within our school grounds.
