Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are some of the brightest most thoughtful kids I have ever met. They work so very hard to achieve their greatest goals and do so with pride. Not only do my students strive to learn each and every day, but I learn so much from them as well.

Although my students come from diverse backgrounds, challenges and cultures, they come to school each and every day ready to learn, and ready to be challenged.

There is nothing better than being able to learn and grow with these kiddos. They deserve the world, and if I could give them any part of it, I would.

My goal is to inspire and instill leadership skills in each and every one of my students. I want them to believe they can do anything, just the way I believe in them.

My Project

This professional development opportunity will allow my classroom to gain first hand experience from my visits to; The American History Museum, Mount Vernon Estates, African American Museum, National Archives, and so much more!

Visiting our nation’s capital will allow me to develop strategies for teaching our 5th grade students about the history of our country.

Just because we live on the other side of the country, doesn’t mean my students should miss out on learning opportunities on the founding of the United States. I plan to bring back as much realia as possible to help bring alive history in the classroom. My students will benefit from the different resources I will learn and bring back into our classroom. There is so much wonderful history to be explored while in Washington DC. I will bring it back with me and help guide my students through America’s past, present, and future!

This project will help to fund this west coast teacher’s transportation, lodging, and food while engaged in the history teacher exploration group of summer 2020 while in a Washington DC. Thank you for your support!!
