Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am teaching a new course this year starting the second semester. It is Studio Arts II. This course dives deeper into the world of mark-making, line, surface, space, light and shade, and composition, 2-D and 3-D.

With the much-needed resources, Studio Arts II will give students the opportunity to progress their artistic skills and further explore art history as well as the arts as a career pathway.

Students will have access to supplies that professional artists use and it will help facilitate their completion of any portfolio work they need to apply for higher education.

Furthermore, this course will challenge the students' preconceived notions of the arts by exploring the content and quality of their work, their work ethic/practice, and how to share their work with the world.

These materials will be the beginning of this journey as it provides each group of students with Prismacolor Premier Soft Core pencils which will give the students the ability to shade using professional level art supplies.

As I continue to integrate dynamic art projects into my classroom it is imperative that my students have an equal opportunity to use supplies that will help creatively engage them in the arts. With the addition of these new supplies my students will be able to create new and innovative artwork with professional level supplies and it will boost their confidence to have access to such impressive supplies.
