Our student population represents countries from all around the world. My students are curious, inquisitive and hard working. They are so inspiring! In addition to learning the English language, my students actively engage in our Science English Language Learners curriculum. Many of my students support themselves financially and sustain part-time jobs in addition to school.
Many of my student have experienced hardships or witnessed violence yet they are committed to their education dream of successful careers in which they will contribute to making our world a better, safer and more peaceful place.
We are now working to complete our class set of Chromebooks. The Sheltered English classes I teach have a legal class size of 20 students maximum. We now have headphones for a class set and we have 14 Chromebooks. We are very excited to submit this request because our students will be able to fully participate in Physics on-line simulations as well as improve their digital literacy. Massachusetts is moving all standardized testing to an on-line format on computers. Our students did not have the computers and handheld tech devices when they were in their home countries. The complete class set of Chromebooks will help them develop their literacy and competency and close the digital divide that exists between students of high opportunity and low opportunity.
