Help me give my students the opportunity to access to our online blended learning programs such as ST Math, Study Island, Wowzers, and Accelerated Reader using these Samsung Chromebooks.
I am the blessed teacher to an awesome bunch of over three dozen fifth graders. One thing I love about teaching fifth grade is that I get the opportunity to make their last year of elementary school one to remember. I teach at one of the best schools in Henderson, NV! Our school prepares students for their successful futures by incorporating many blended learning components.
Many of my students come from low-income households and do not have access to technology outside of school.
With that being said, this means they can only access our programs when at school. However, this can be challenging at times because of limited technology in my classroom.
From my professional opinion, the best way to maximize student learning with the use of technology is by having the resources available, including technology. The more exposure students have to technology, the better. It is going to be extremely challenging to provide my classroom with the technology and resources required to meet our individual instructional needs on my limited teacher salary. Thus, I am reaching out to generous donors for their support
My Project
These Chromebooks will help my students have better access to our blended learning programs. It is extremely challenging making sure that each one of my students gets on the computers at some point throughout the day, each day. With more technology in my class, it will be easier to make sure they all have the opportunity to go on their favorite programs.
Each day, my students get extremely excited when I announce that it is time to move into small group time where one of our center rotations is technology.
What disappoints me is when I have to say the words, "There are no more computers left so you are going to have to go do ___." If I am able to have more technology in my classroom, this situation will happen less. One of the best parts about being a fifth grade teacher is preparing my students for middle school. Many middle schools in my city have one-to-one chromebooks or iPads. With that being said, I know that I need to prepare my students by giving them maximum technology exposure.
