This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you image a classroom in which all the books you were attempting to read were in a foreign language? Our school services a majority of English Language Learners, however we lack the much needed New Literature in their native language. Our new mission is to rectify this situation with your help!

Our students attend a Title I school in the heart of Queens.

Each day they face challenges such as gangs and poverty. On top of this many of my students are learning English as a second language. With all the daily obstacles they face we are often amazed and excited by their small and large accomplishments. My students are kind, wonderful children that always do what we ask of them. Each day they come to school and work hard to achieve what most of us take for granted.

My Project

As a donor you have the power to shape and aid our students and their young lives. Having multiple copies of the 11 Spanish books that I am requesting will inspire and create life long readers. From your generosity our students will learn the art of "€œpaying it forward.€" I always talk to my students about how important it is to be positive and promote paying it forward in their daily lives.

This project is apart of our school wide initiative to create an effective action plan to effectively reach and aid all English Language Learners as they read and write in Spanish and English.
