Through Donors Choose, you contributed to purchasing ink for the laser printer in my classroom. Your generosity helps me to support my students' learning in many ways.\r\nHaving access to supplies for my printer gives me the opportunity to create learning materials to differentiate instruction for my learners with special needs. I typically do this during lesson planning, for instance creating organizers, checklists, or notes pages for my students. Other times, I notice a student needs an additional support as I'm delivering small group instruction, and can print a modification as needed right then and there. This is immensely helpful to me in meeting the needs of my diverse learners. Now, my students are able to access the resources (scaffolds, graphic organizers, cloze notes/sentences, and differentiated texts) at the click of a button! This is crucial for my students because now their learning styles are now able to be met, which means they can be successful and better equipped to go to high school. For example, today, some of my students asked if we could photocopy a couple of pages from the book so they could annotate the text to better understand it; since they can't write in their novels, I was able to photocopy these pages immediately, and thus they had a successful day in ELA! \r\n\r\nAdditionally, my students benefit from having color-coded notes, especially for vocabulary. Since we are reading a higher-level text, we spend a lot of time breaking down vocabulary words for our students, so being able to color-code the words by parts of speech helps the students remember the words more easily. The printer makes this possible for them!\r\n\r\nEssentially, you have made my students' lives easier and given them a way to access the curriculum in a way that best suits them; we can never fully express how grateful we are!","fullyFundedDate":1738781982226,"projectUrl":"project/a-blueprint-for-education/9095849/","projectTitle":"A bluePRINT for Education","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pollak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp679440_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1539392523125","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/alisonpollak"},{"teacherId":8491409,"projectId":8869141,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping to costume my students for their performance. My 6th graders, who are enrolled in Dual Language and Bilingual programs, have quickly embraced the books you helped provide, particularly the graphic novels and the \"I Survived\" series. These engaging texts have captivated their imaginations and encouraged a deeper love for reading. The combination of pictures, historical facts, and compelling stories allows my students to connect with the material in ways that traditional books sometimes can't.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is not just about finishing a book—it's about immersing themselves in stories, learning new things, and developing a lifelong love for literature. With these new books, my students have had more opportunities to engage with texts that are both visually appealing and educational. The graphic novels, in particular, have been a hit with my struggling readers, as the pictures make the stories feel more accessible and less intimidating. One student, who typically struggles with reading comprehension, has shown significant improvement by reading graphic novels, connecting more with the material, and feeling more confident in his reading skills.\r\nYour donation has helped foster a reading environment where students feel excited and empowered to pick up a book, knowing that there are stories and genres that resonate with their interests. Many of my students are now more motivated to read both in Spanish and English, and this has translated into increased participation and enthusiasm for other subjects as well.
