My students come to music class excited and ready to make music! I teach elementary music at a Title I school where over 80% of my students are socio-economically disadvantaged. This is my first year at my school and my mission is to develop a vibrant music program where students have the materials they need to enjoy music and be creative!
Every student is important!
Our school has very few classroom percussion instruments. During our 30-minute music class, when students have to wait for a turn to play a drum or triangle, it takes up precious minutes of our class time. I believe every minute counts, and every student counts! Students learn more when they are engaged and excited, and feel their contribution is important. Playing instruments is a vital part of music class, and your donation will help my students have more instruments to play!
Students learn best from what they can see and touch... and play! Our music classroom has a good variety of basic classroom percussion, and you can help bring a world of music to my students with new instruments like cowbells, drums and rainsticks!
Listen, dance, sing, and play!
You can help us bring the "play" part into the picture! Young students feel connected to people far across the globe when they can feel the music of the world. We listen to the sounds, dance to the rhythm, and sing the melodies of people near and far. With these instruments, we will connect to the music in a new way! Please help my students feel like they are part of the world of music as they touch, feel, and play instruments of the world!
