Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Communication is one of the most important skills a child can develop. It allows children to express their needs, share their ideas, build relationships, and learn with confidence. My goal is to give every student the tools they need to find their voice.

My students are between 3 and 5 years old, and each one deserves the best possible start.

Some kids point to what they want, some use parts of words, some are working on speaking more clearly, and others have strong language skills but struggle to find the right words to express themselves. Every child deserves a way to communicate successfully.

With your support, we can add a iPad communication device equipped with Proloquo2Go, an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app that helps children develop language and communication skills. This device will allow me to model vocabulary, build sentences, and teach students multiple ways to express their thoughts, feelings, and needs.

For some students, this technology will become an essential communication tool that they will continue to use at school and at home, helping them participate more fully with their families, classmates, and community. For others, seeing language modeled consistently with the device will strengthen their own communication skills, even if they never need an AAC device themselves.

Although our classroom is small, the communication needs are significant. This device will be used every day and will benefit students for years to come, helping countless children build the confidence to communicate. Your donation is an investment in giving young learners a voice, opening doors to learning, connection, and lifelong success.
