My Project

Every item in this project will help create a classroom where my students feel safe, supported, comfortable, and ready to learn. As a new special education teacher building a classroom from the ground up, these materials will help me meet a variety of academic, sensory, communication, and daily needs.

The beanbag and floor pillow will create a comfortable space for reading, independent work, or taking a calming break.

Fidget toys will give students appropriate sensory tools to help with focus and self-regulation. Magnetic building tiles will encourage creativity, problem-solving, fine-motor skills, and hands-on STEM learning.

Dry erase boards, markers, reusable laminating pouches, and whiteboard supplies will be used daily for practice, participation, and immediate feedback. The laminator will allow me to create durable visual schedules, communication supports, task cards, checklists, and individualized learning activities that can be reused throughout the year. Scissors, glue, dot markers, and painting supplies will provide opportunities for creativity, fine-motor development, and hands-on learning.

The dry erase dots, tape, and organizational supplies will help create structure and make classroom routines easier to understand and follow. The mini fridge will allow me to safely store snacks and drinks for students.

The snacks, juice, and water are especially important because many of my students are unable to bring snacks from home. Having food and drinks available will help ensure students are comfortable and able to focus on learning when they are hungry or thirsty.

Cleaning supplies will help me maintain a clean, welcoming classroom and safely care for shared materials.

Together, these resources will transform an empty classroom into a warm, engaging space where students can learn, explore, regulate, practice independence, and celebrate their successes. Most importantly, they will help me create a classroom where every student feels that they belong and has tools they need to thrive.
