A Sensory Friendly Classroom

Help me give my students a sensory-friendly classroom that will be inviting and safe for everyone to learn and grow.

My Project

With a background in special education, I am fully aware of the sensory needs of many students in both general and special education. It seems as if more and more students are in search of fulfilling their sensory needs throughout the day. If a student is regulated, they are better able to perform socially, academically, and socially.

My goal is for my classroom to be a safe and welcoming environment for all of my students (past, current, and future) and offer a relaxing place for learning and engagement to happen.

The acrylic blocks will be used for students who need a break to build with as well as interact with light and colors. The light and noise machine will be great for providing a calm and peaceful setting. For students who could benefit from breathing techniques, I have chosen to breathe mazes. The Calm Ball is a great tool to encourage self-care and deep breathing. I think the diffuser and fruit oils will offer an inviting scent to visitors.

I am hopeful that with the help of these tools, my classroom will be a sensory-friendly oasis for everyone.
