Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our young scholars come to us from a variety of backgrounds with one thing in common: a desire to love and to learn. We are here to nourish not just their minds, but also their souls. Our team and our school are fully invested in making sure that these students succeed not only academically, but socially.
Our school is located in an area of extreme poverty with 100% free lunch and breakfast provided daily.
There is a diverse population with many students coming from single-parent homes, as well as homes in which a grandparent is a primary caregiver. We strive to provide stability in their lives as we meet educational goals. Our expectations are high and we believe that each child is worthy of reaching for the stars. They bring the dreams that we help them achieve.
My Project
We have a scholastic book room and an outdated curriculum full of leveled texts. What we really need are decodable readers. This project is full of options of beginning books perfect for my young scholars. They will have books that they are able to read along with some of their favorite characters to learn about.
Each scholar has unique interests and this project is perfect to address their needs.
I am hoping to have a fully stocked decodable reading area ready for them soon. This age is so eager to learn to read and I want to foster that wonderful thirst of knowledge.
