A Relaxation Nook for Autistic Kids

Help me give my students a relaxation nook! Most of my students are non-verbal, and autistic. This includes an area rug and bean bag chairs.

My Project

I am hoping to create an area in my classroom where my students can chill and be comfy. The majority of my students have autism and are low-functioning. Also, my school serves all of our surrounding communities and is a "therapeutic school" so, some students travel over an hour to get here every day.

Many have behavioral issues related to their disabilities and take medication daily to help with their issues.

As a result of this, many of my students take naps. I would love to provide them a comfortable, warm and inviting space for them to relax. Some days my job is very demanding and creating this space for my students would quite literally change our lives!

Teaching Life Skills has brought me so much joy. I cannot wait to surprise my students with an area they will be able to relax in! The bean bags and rug will really light up my classroom.
