Help me give my students the Social Emotional Photo Library, 2-Pocket Folders, the book When Sophie Gets Angry, and different colored construction paper.
Lake Valley Elementary school students and staff have a lot of school spirit. We love our school, our students love being here, and we are like family. One of our classes actually won tickets to a basketball game for having the most school spirit in our district!
Many of our students come from difficult backgrounds.
We are here to help them work through their trauma and other emotions. We are a Title 1 school with a high population of free and reduced lunch. We all work hard and work together to build success.
My Project
We are developing an in class program to work on self-regulation for students. We need folders for each student to keep their materials in. They will be learning about how to work through their emotions. The photo library will help them relate their emotions with the pictures.
The colors helps our students describe their mood and use self-regulation strategies.
We will be making posters as a class to represent each mood/color combination. The visuals will help the students identify and remember the terms.
Because anger is the most difficult emotion to regulate, we will use the book When Sophie Gets Mad as a class read aloud.
