Help me give my students a place where they can meet with their cooperative groups. This kidney table will give them a permanent place that they can get small group instruction with the teacher and work their peers.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 5th grade social studies at an urban elementary school. All of my students receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. The majority of my students enjoy coming to school. I strive to make my classroom a safe learning environment for all of my students.
My students are full of questions about the world around them!
They are constantly asking why? They enjoy hands-on activities and work stations where they are able to collaborate with each other. They are eager to learn and they just need the materials to do so.
My Project
A major goal in my 5th grade social studies classroom is to build community. In order to do that students need a place to work together and ask for help when needed. My students need to feel comfortable in their classroom while working within their small groups.
Small group instruction works best for my students.
Providing them with this table and stools will help make that possible. Small group instruction gives students the opportunity to work together, independently, and with the whole group. It also provides students with one on one time with their teacher. It provides them with many skills needed throughout life.
