My Students

There are approximately 280 students at our school. Due to their economic status, our students don't always have opportunities to broaden their learning, which allows them to engage in meaningful experiences and show them possible career paths. Most of our students are coming from a neighborhood where many of their parents, brothers, and sisters did not graduate high school, which puts them at a disadvantage for achieving their dreams. Additionally, we are the only oral deaf education school in the DFW Metroplex.

My Project

The end of the school year is fast approaching. Each school year, my students take part in a themed end of year party. This party represents their achievements in elementary and also acts as a send-off to middle school and beyond.

The various board games, card games, and science kits are items that my students would love to have a chance of winning.

As the students arrive to the party, their names are placed into a raffle. Throughout the party, we raffle off a prize until they are all gone. My students love to do science experiments and the science kits will allow them to keep exploring over the summer. The card and board games will allow them to spend time having fun with their friends and family. This end of year party gives my students something to remember for a lifetime and marks the end of one journey and the beginning of another.
