My Students

In our Early Childhood Special Education classroom, we have children aged 3 to 5 years old who are receiving early interventions. We focus on learning and practicing all those fabulous skills needed for kindergarten.

Our school is in North Minneapolis, and it qualifies for universal free breakfast and lunch due to having an over 80% free or reduced-price lunch status.

We are a school community that tends to be viewed as underprivileged and disadvantaged; however, my students are amazingly curious, joyful, eager, brilliant, and kind. I can go on forever about how amazing these students are. These first years are critical as they form their relationships with school and learning!

My Project

This is the first year for the Early Childhood Special Education Program at my school and we are building our classroom piece by piece. Learning in our classroom is guided by the interests of our students and being organized is critical!

Using colored bins to create and organize our library and independent work boxes will help create an environment that fosters independence.

Having clearly designated spots for items not only helps with the ability to find and use items, but it also helps with learning how to independently clean up.
