My Project

In our rural elementary school, food insecurity is a very real challenge for many of our students. As a special education teacher, I see firsthand how difficult it can be for children to focus, regulate emotions, and fully participate in learning when they are hungry. Some students arrive after breakfast has ended, some miss breakfast because of transportation issues, and others simply need an additional snack during the day to help them stay focused and successful. To help support our students, I have created a snack stand in my office that students can access when needed. This space has become a safe and supportive resource for students throughout the school day, especially for those in my special education classroom and other students who may need something to eat in order to regroup, refocus, or simply make it through the day.

This project will provide a variety of individually packaged snacks that are easy to distribute, student-friendly, and appropriate for use throughout the school day.

The requested items include Pringles Snack Stack Variety Pack Crisps, Goldfish Crackers Big Smiles Variety Packs, Pop-Tarts Variety Packs, Cheez-It Cheese Crackers snack packs, Welch’s Gluten Free Mixed Fruit Snacks, Little Bites Chocolate Chip Muffins, Mother’s Original Circus Animal Cookies snack packs, Entenmann’s Little Bites Fudge Brownie Mini Muffins, and OREO, CHIPS AHOY!, and Nutter Butter Variety Snack Packs. These snacks will help students who may need breakfast alternatives, quick snacks during testing days, support after medication, or simply a little extra nourishment to make it through the school day successfully. For many of our students, access to a simple snack can make a tremendous difference in their mood, concentration, behavior, and confidence. This project is about more than food. It is about making sure students feel cared for, supported, and ready to learn each day.
