My Students

Our school is located in the inner city and is part of the districts magnet program. More than half of the students attending our school are socioeconomically disadvantaged. The students within our school come from many different cultural backgrounds.

My students are fourth graders.

They love to read and write and work hard every day to complete rigorous tasks to meet the challenge of high stakes state testing. They show true dedication to their tasks and amaze me daily.

We need these supplies to help my students to become even more successful in the classroom and in life!

My Project

The students coming into fourth grade next year have a lot of energy and personality. I am extremely excited for them to join my classroom next year. I believe that they will benefit from an area in our classroom that is calming and relaxing.

I have requested the benches and carpet to create a library area in our classroom where students can relax and read.

This will allow students to have a relaxing area where they can read independently and with a group. This will also be a space where students can work with partners and in small groups on other actives. The students love to move around the room and work in different spaces and I know they would enjoy a library area. I believe that this library area in our classroom will help to create students who love reading.
